Several precautions are offered to the laser project engineer in regard to planning for optical components. Close consultation with the vendor is stressed; a list of specific design features and requirements which the vendor needs to know is given. The various considerations of cost vs quality of surface contours finishes and coatings are reviewed. Applicable MIL standards are mentioned.
