摘要：
The findings of the IEEE Task Force on Research Needs in Manufacturing Systems, chaired by Yu-Chi Ho, are presented. The report was prepared for the Engineering Research Board of the National Academy of Engineering. The authors concentrate on a few issues that are believed to be important for the future development of the discipline. Three general problems are discussed: models and methodology, design philosophy and tools, and economics and accounting practices. These areas pose problems involving both style and substance.
