A study was made of the activity of a catalyst with a low platinum content under laboratory conditions at atmospheric pressure. It was established that the activity of the new catalyst is practically equal to the activity of the standard platinoid contact. The degree of oxidation of ammonia to nitric oxide with a catalyst load of 600 kg NH//3/(m**2-day), a temperature of 900 to 920 degree C, and an O//2/NH//3 ratio of 1. 35 amounts to 94%.
