Reuse of municipal wastewater is conducted at 358 locations in the United States for such purposes as irrigation, industrial cooling and process water, recreational lakes, and fish propagation. About 95 percent of these locations are in the semi-arid southwest states, and the total volume of reused water is approximately 0. 5 bil cu m per year.
