IR Spectroscopic Analysis of Styrene-Acrylonitrile Copolymers and ABS.

The behavior of PS in bands 1603 cm** minus **1 and 1585 cm** minus **1 is investigated during the copolymerization of styrene with acrylonitrile. With an increasing incorporation of acrylonitrile the extinction ratio E//1//6//0//3/E//1//5//8//5 shows a decrease. The effect is attributed to the decrease of SSS structures. The qualitative and quantitative analyses of ABS are discussed.
