We used the method of electronic spectroscopy to study the influence of the functional substitution in H//2TAP on its properties as a base. Analysis of the present data and the published data shows that for such complex conjugated multicenter bases as tetraazaporphyrins, the influence of the substituent is not confined to simple quantitative changes. The possibility must be considered that the formation of each of the forms depends not only on the internal factors, i. e. , the electronic structure of the molecule, but also on external factors, such as the composition and properties of the medium, playing an active role in acid-base interactions.
