The catalytic activity and selectivity of zeolite-containing catalysts based on a high-silica zeolite of the Pentasil type and inactive matrices (amorphous alumino-silicates, aluminum oxide, and silicon dioxide) in the conversion of n-hexane at 400 degree C are determined. It is shown that the properties of the gels of the matrices determine the nature of the distribution of the zeolite crystals and the number of zeolite-matrix contacts in the micropores of the catalysts.
