In the first part of the paper the author discussed in detail soil design requirements and various pipe design concepts. These included the 'classical structural' approach as well as that used for design of AASHTO metal culverts. This part discusses: loadings; Spangler's ring loading; soil arching; longitudinal effects; combined loading; strain factor; safety or design factor; the AWWA C950 approach; the Veroc-Owens Corning instructions.
