The physical properties of a petrol engine make it impossible to attain a higher accuracy with the methods and equipment used so far for measuring the ignition angle, with the result that new methods and equipment have had to be developed. The article describes the requirements to be met in this connection as well as the methods and new equipment developed for the purpose.
