Waterborne polyurethane dispersion used for sealing parquet are environmentally-friendly but could be improved. Three new cross-linking methods are presented which raise the performance of such lacquers to the level of that of solvent-based systems: 1) Alkyd-modified PU-dispersions improve the chemical, mechanical and storage characteristics; 2) Allophate-modified polyisocyanate curers yield a high-gloss, highly resistant 2-pack lacquer, which can be mixed by simply shaking; 3) UV-curable polyurethane acrylate dispersions which shrink less than 100% UV systems and are suitable for use as primers.
