A method of calculating the wave fields arising during the interaction between long barotropic waves and extended bottom-relief inhomogeneities is proposed in a linear formulation for an arbitrary stable continuous distribution of averaged density with depth. On the basis of the proposed method, a study is made of the parameters of the internal semidiurnal tidal waves generated, when the bottom-relief inhomogeneity is an oceanic ridge or a continental slope, and the variation of the Brunt-Vaisala frequency with depth is given by a three-parameter family of curves.
