This paper deals with the utilization of coal in heat generation in European community countries. Some of the topics discussed are the heating market; coal-fired plant demand; ease of coal utilization; and technical developments. Other topics covered include environmental acceptability of coal utilization; international energy markets; and present prices for third country coal.
