摘要
A carbothermic method for the production of fine boron carbide powder is described. Typical for the method is the use of a finely dispersed mixture of lamp black and boric acid, which is dried at 300 C. The subsequent carbothermal reduction is carried out at the comparatively low temperature range of 1600 to 1800 C. In contrast to the conventional fusion method, a fine (1-5 mu m) boron carbide powder is obtained.
