Four case histories of machine vibrations are discussed to emphasize the different aspects and interpretation of machine vibration signatures. These cases include the following: antifriction bearing failure due to high velocity of vibrations; machine vibration due to extraneous reasons; oxygen compressor blade failure; and increased clearances in sleeve bearings which result in higher vibrations.
