摘要
Chelating agents in effluents from metal-products-finishing plants can cause difficulties in precipitating heavy metals. In the case of Phillips Plating Co. , Phillips, Wisconsin, the chelating agents originate in electroless nickel plating solutions used in preplating plastic surfaces for copper-nickel-chromium electroplating. This article describes a proprietary precipitation system - the ″Sulfex″ process - which is being used by the company to achieve low levels of heavy metals in the final effluent discharged from this plant. The process requires addition of iron sulfide to the waste stream.
