State of the Art and Tasks of the Development of Transformer Manufacture.

During the period 1971-1975 the volume of transformer manufacture in the USSR increased by 41. 6%. The manufacture of ready-made complete transformer substations increased by 70%. During this period 400,000 such substations have been made. Improvements in the quality of main materials, technological equipment of manufacturing plants, and scientific-research work are noted. New types of transformers that are being developed and should be produced in a near future are described. In particular, special transformers for electric furnaces and shunting reactors for EHV power lines are briefly specified.
