摘要：
The knowledge and techniques that need to be acquired for effective on-line searching, including operation of the terminal, command languages, system responses, how data bases are implemented, and general search strategy. Various aids available are described such as manuals, training courses at different levels and different degrees of specialization, help desks and practice. The question of how the searcher interacts with the end user of the information is considered.
