摘要:
Indexing support packages currently available on microcomputers do little more than mechanize the file of index entries for rapid manipulation and printing. Controlled vocabulary development and the generation of references have been regarded as too time consuming or unnecessarily elaborate for the small scale indexing environment. Arguments are presented in support of the microcomputer as an unprecedented tool in this area. Practical experience is used to illustrate the arguments, and some detailed aspects of system and program design are given as examples of the feasibility of the use of microcomputers in small scale thesaurus development.
