Geosynthetics can be used to clean up the environment. Their use in liners and drainage systems has become standard in constructing new landfills, and now their qualities of chemical resistance, durability and cost effectiveness are also being put to work in environmental remediation projects. Just how cost effective it is to design for geosynthetics can be answered by three projects undertaken by Soil & Material Engineers, which began several years ago to extend the application of geosynthetics in environmental remediation projects.
