As the revered professions lengthened and upgraded the educational requirements, improved the registration requirements, kept watch on those who practiced the profession, and insisted on membership in appropriate technical and professional societies, so will the engineers have to do these same things to gain the recognition. Being able to get the minimum passing grade for 16 hr of examination may be adequate to safeguard the health, welfare and safety of the public, but it is not enough to be revered as a professional person.
