A crossed beam coincidence counting technique has been used to study Gaq+ formation in one-electron capture by H+ and He2+ ions in single collisions with ground state Ga atoms within the energy range 35-700 keV amu-1. An attempt has been made to describe the measured charge state fractions Fq of Gaq+ ions for q = 1-6 in terms of a simple model based on an independent electron description.
