Intense laser beams while interacting with solid targets produce a number of interesting phenomena. Our objective here is to discuss various experiments with laser-produced plasmas that could be relevant to space and astrophysical plasmas. The attention is focused on large Larmor radius instability, cross-field plasma jetting, generation of turbulence, X-ray spectra, collisionless shocks etc. Various scaling laws to produce space plasmas in the laboratory are discussed.
