摘要
NTT is making great efforts to create the INS (Information Network System) as a telecommunications infrastructure for the advanced information society of the near future. To evolve the new nationwide network smoothly and cost-effectively, basic network schemes must be developed and then implemented. This paper describes the evolving steps of the network toward the INS as well as the basic framework of the INS network scheme. The author's viewpoints regarding the future direction of INS development and related issues yet to be solved are also included.
