Niobium was discovered in 1801. The largest deposits of niobium ore are in Brazil, Canada, and Russian Federation. Brazilian 'Companhia Brasileria Metalurgia et Mineracao' company has plant with productivity of 42,000 tons of concentrates per year. Content of Ni2O5 in the concentrates is 60 percent. Raw materials are ground and magnetically separated. Then, flotation of the materials is performed. Produced materials are utilized for producing the ferroniobium in electric arc furnace. Environmental protection is provided. Utilization of niobium in steel makes it possible to improve impact strength of the steel. New area of utilizing the niobium are detected.
