This article deals comprehensively with the installation and performance of a stowing plant at Moira Colliery, installed in collaboration with the Sofremines (India). The proposal to extract the Jambad seam made stowing at this colliery highly necessary as the depillaring of the 12. 8 m thick seam in this area was associated with fire, roof trouble and low percentage of extraction. The decision to extract the seam in two stages called for a modern high-rate stowing plant. The distinctive features of the plant are found in the mixing chamber and its equipment.
