摘要：

The wide range of values of intrinsic birefringence of the crystalline and amorphous phases of poly(ethylene terephthalate) reported in the literature are examined and it is suggested that if the perfection of these phases is taken into account, it is possible that constant values for intrinsic birefringence may be obtained.
