Paper describes the characteristics of quartz sands that are used in West Germany as foundry sands. Their average grain size is in the range of between 0. 10 and 0. 84 mm (140-20 mesh). Their processing involves a great deal of handling equipment which is indicated on schematic flowsheet and blueprints of a modern, computer controlled plant. Specifications of the equipment are given in a tabulated form.
