The paper examines the current state of the industry and the foundries which work with iron and steel and assesses the probable development of its market. From this assessment it identifies the changes necessary within the industry and shows in some detail the ways in which such changes may be accomplished both now and in the future. The operating cost aspects of these developments are evaluated and the overall effect on profitability assessed.
