PRINCIPLES OF FUEL AND HEAT CONSERVATION IN SUGAR FACTORIES.

Sugar manufacture is a processing industry characterized by large fuel and steam consumption (60-70% on cane). A discussion is presented of escape routes of heat. Methods concerning sensible loss and limit of heat recovery are outlined. The escape of heat through condensers and process steam demand and the extent of steam economies are also examined.
