A study by Antimirov and Liepinya was devoted to an investigation of the conditions of onset of thermocapillary convection in a cylindrical layer of liquid under conditions of weightlessness. An MHD generalization of that study is given in this article for the case of a uniform external magnetic field directed along the axis of the cylinder.
