摘要：
A method, based on fracture mechanics, of calculating the brittle failure times of polyethylene pipes has been developed. In the case of high density polyethylene the predicted pipe performance was in good agreement with the experimental pipe data. Modifications to the predictive technique are necessary before tough medium density materials can be analyzed.
