The 4th European Coke and Ironmaking Congress was held on June 19-22, 2000, in Paris. At the Congress, it has been shown that blast furnaces are the main producers of cast iron. In order to produce high-quality cast iron, it is necessary to efficiently prepare charge materials. Utilization of sinter and pellets makes it possible to produce high-quality cast iron. Injection of pulverized coal plays important role in process of cast iron production. Consumption of coke is reduced in this case. High-quality coke is also provided. The CSR index is used for evaluating the coke quality. Productivity of modern blast furnace is more than 4 t/m3 per day.
