A simple method is described for analyzing micro volumes of solutions with impulsive injection of the sample into a hf inductively coupled plasma (ICP). The proposed procedure for injecting the sample ensures that the rate of impulsive injection of microvolumes of solutions into the plasma will be independent of the viscosity of the solutions, since this rate is determined, for all practical purposes, by the rate at which pure water flows into the atomizer and into the plasma. Therefore, both the magnitude of the analytical signal and the results of the quantitative analysis of microvolumes of solutions should also be independent of the viscosity of the solutions. This advantage of the proposed impulsive method is illustrated by examples.
