Blending is necessary to give a kiln feed with the desired chemical composition and with variations small enough so as not to adversely affect kiln operation. This requires uniformity of sizing as well as composition, so the final blending system must prevent size segregation. Techniques for proportioning, bed blending, and homogenization are described.
