摘要：
Generation of colors in a liquid crystal display by the principle of the electrically controlled birefringence is described. New technological details on the achievement of a unidirectional pretilt in the liquid crystal layer are given. The turn-on time of a display element can be reduced by a proper adjustment of this pretilt.
