摘要
This paper presents technical trends of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) in communications fields. By first showing how and why digital signal processing is important in communication systems, the concept of DSP is introduced and clearly defined as the key technology to achieve advanced future communications systems. Next, Fujitsu's research and development activities for DSP applications and its LSI implementation are described in chronological order. Here the detailed technical discussion is concentrated on Fujitsu's most advanced general-purpose DSP LSI MB8764. Finally, the development of DSP applications for speech bandwidth reduction and echo cancellers are described in some detail.
