Results are discussed as to a comparative estimate of brittle failure resistance of structural low-alloy 10khSND (10CrSiNiCu) and 12 G2MFT (12Mn2MoVTi) steels with yield points 40 and 50 kgf/mm**2, respectively, utilized in and promising for bridge building. Samples of full-size thickness were studied for power and energy criteria including values of critical stress intensity coefficients K//I//c at negative temperatures, critical crack opening (CCO), critical temperatures T//K//. //B and specific failure work.
