摘要:
System designer's calls for higher speed and higher capacity peripherals have been answered by a stream of advanced devices from the storage peripheral community. In addition to the variety of hard and floppy disks, and reel-to-reel and cartridge tape drives, the choices offered now include optical disk drives that read only, or write and read once. While filling system demands for capacity and speed on all levels, the range of choices offered now tests the abilities of systems to use them to their full potential. Dominating the dumb interfaces of the past, the intelligent interfaces of the future hold the key to the configuration flexibility and speed necessary to match tomorrow's storage needs. This article explains how.
