The results of a study of the process of synthesis of tetrachloroterephthaloyl dichloride and its etherification with methanol are presented. A technology for the synthesis of tetrachloroterephthalic and dimethyl ether, the active basis of the herbicide tetral, has been developed. A technological scheme for this process is described.
