INTRODUCTION TO POLI COMPUTER NETWORK DESIGN.

Poli Network is an experimental computer network. The reason for designing this network is to achieve experience on modes of accessing and using a network. Some standard modes of using a network viewed as supplying virtual machines are defined and the related problems are briefly discussed. The Poli network, based on a central node connecting university computer centers, is designed with the purpose to minimize software and hardware effort while keeping it flexible and expandable. This fact is accomplished by simulating in the central node the standard terminals of the computers to be connected. The software organizati of the central node is described.
