An experimental study has been made of the influence of turbulence at the interface between laminar vapor-gas streams at different temperatures on the vapor nucleation rate in the streams. In heterogeneous condensation, the logarithmic derivative of the nucleation rate with respect to supersaturation is equal to the dimension of the critical nucleus of the new phase (to within the logarithmic derivative of the preexponential term in the expression for the nucleation rate). This has made it possible to perform the corresponding evaluations for dibutyl phthalate nucleii formed on sodium chloride condensation centers.
