The proportionality between normalized diffusion coefficients and normalized vacancy concentration in fcc solid solutions of the substitution type found by Hehenkamp and co-workers physically strictly holds in the region of validity of the Lomer equation. An extension to complexes between a vacancy and two impurity atoms is not unrealistic. The proportionality cannot be proved exactly; however, it provides the possibility to estimate the free binding enthalpy in complexes with one and two impurity atoms from the enhancement factors b1 and b2 © 1986 Carl Hanser Verlag.
