摘要:
The author first discusses the need for mechanized mining of oil shale, and then focuses on the design of a mining excavator for oil shale, emphasizing the necessary relationship between machine and mine design. A detailed description is provided of the Self-Advancing-Miner (SAM). Oil shale mining systems using SAM are also described along with an interesting in-situ retorting system made possible by the machine excavation process.
