摘要:
Siccatives are added to unsaturated binder systems to accelerate drying. Their action is based on the catalysis of auto-oxidation reactions during film formation. The composition of water-based coatings differs greatly from the traditional alkyd resin lacquers which can be thinned with white spirit, particularly with respect to solvents and binders and the use of neutralising agents. During the drying of water-based coatings, there is a change from the polar to the non-polar phase and it is thus necessary to tailor siccative-addition to suit composition and metal concentration. Complex water-emulsifiable drying agents are distinguished by good optical properties and good stabilisation of the drying action.
