Compressor-driving steam turbines for use in chemical plants are described briefly. Special emphasis is placed on the state-of-the art and development of large-capacity, high-speed, variable speed steam turbines which are used for ethylene, ammonia, and LNG plants. Performance and components of these turbines are also detailed.
