摘要
Two omega phases are known to occur in different alloys of titanium with beta -stabilizing elements. One, called athermal or quenched omega , is formed by quenching from the beta region; the other one, called tempered omega , is formed by aging of beta . In this investigation of Ti-Nb and Ti-Mo alloys by optical microscopy, x-ray diffusion and diffraction, and electron microscopy and microdiffraction, formation of quenched omega was found to be prevented in Ti-Nb alloys by the martensitic beta yields alpha prime and beta yields alpha double prime transformations. In the Ti-Mo alloys, both quenched and tempered omega were formed. The effects of Ti and Mo on the lattice parameters of alpha double prime also differed.
