摘要
The FOT 565 Mbit/s system has been specially developed for the North American market. It uses the 1. 3 mu m wavelength over single-mode optical fibers. The links between line terminal equipment can include repeaters capable of dropping and inserting three 45 Mbit/s (DS3) channels. The system includes protection switching equipment for DS3 channels offering 8 plus 1 or 7 plus 2 protection. The system's performance has already been verified on a test link, the first manufactured parts passed inspection in the last quarter of 1985, and several links will be put in operation in the United States by mid 1986.
