摘要
The magnetic field is calculated between two parallel semi-infinite pole faces, one of them having suffered a shift with respect to the other over a small distance. The influence of this shift on the ion orbits and the focussing properties is investigated. The theory provides a direct numerical evaluation of the magnitude of the aberrations. The most prominent aberration is an obliquity of the image.
