Study on the elimination of weld hot-cracking of LD10CS aluminum alloy with electromagnetic stirring

By the metallographic examination of the macrostructure and microstructure in the LD10CS aluminum alloy welds resulted from the He-TIG welding with longitudinal intermittent alternative magnetic field, the influence is studied of the electromagnetic stirring on the solidification cracking in aluminum alloy. The mechanism is discussed for eliminating the weld hot-cracking of LD10CS aluminum alloy by electromagnetic fields. The optimum magnetic field parameters for reducing the solidification cracking to a minimum are obtained under the test conditions.
