The amount of Al, reduced from the flux, in the deposited metal is determined by the concentration of Al//2O//3 in the flux and by the initial Si-content of the welding wire. It is shown that, in addition to the reduction of Al from Al//2O//3, oxidation of Si may also be accompanied by oxidation of the alloying additions of the deposited metal with a partial dissociation of Al//2O//3 to suboxides AlO and Al//2O. This increases the total concentration of oxygen in the metal.
